The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
